Lost At Disneyland

“I was sought by those who did not ask for Me, I was found by those who did not seek Me. I said, ‘here I am, here I am…'”Isaiah 65:1

God is announcing to the Jews that since they turned their back on Him, He was going to bring salvation to the Gentiles (anyone not Jewish), which was His plan all along.

The Gentiles were not asking for God and not seeking Him. Many probably did not even know they needed Him in their lives until He came around saying, “here I am, here I am.” It reminds me of Jesus (God in flesh) who said the same thing during His earthly ministry, “Behold I stand at the door and knock.” The apostle Paul also applies this to the call of the Gentiles in Romans 10:20 where he writes, “I was found by those who did not seek Me; I was made manifest to those who did not ask for me.” Taken as a whole, the Gentiles did not seek after God and were satisfied with their own pagan religions. When they heard about Jesus, however, they responded to the gospel and accepted Christ into their lives.

If you are a parent, there may have come a time in your life where you lost one of your children in a theme park or grocery store. This happened to me with one of my daughters at Disneyland. Fortunately one of the staff found her and took her to a waiting room where they had toys for her to focus on. As I ran frantically to where she was I stopped when I saw her through the window. She was minding her own business and playing with the other kids. Once I came walking in and she turned to look at me, she finally realized she was lost and came running towards me. She was not looking for me and her mind was occupied with other things, but as her father, I knew she was lost and I went after her. I believe this is the picture we see here of our heavenly Father calling out and coming after each one of us.

Today, there are millions of people in the world who have never accepted Jesus into their lives or have turned away. I know, I used to be one of them. I went off on my own direction not realizing I was lost. I was so focused on everything else around me, I forgot who I was. But, when my Father chased after me and came walking through the doors I remembered and ran to Him!

What about you today? Are you lost and focused on everything else around you? Is there something missing in your life and you cannot put your finger on it? Maybe you have walked away from God or maybe you have never accepted Christ into your life. This message is for you! This is God reaching out to you and saying “here I am, here I am!” Will you see Him and run to Him today? He loves you and is ready to bring you into His loving arms. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and you will finally be found!
