Watered Down Words

“Do not diminish a word. Perhaps everyone will listen and turn from his evil way; that I may relent concerning the calamity which I purpose to bring on them because of the evil of their doings.”Jeremiah 26:2-3

The New Living Translation puts it this way “Give them my entire message; include every word. Perhaps they will listen and turn from their evil ways. Then I will change my mind about the disaster I am ready to pour out on them because of their sins.” This, in my estimation, is a scripture that every Christ follower should memorize! We are to share the entire Bible no matter what. Both the encouraging messages and the messages of correction.

The Bible tells us that every word is God breathed (2 Timothy 3:16). When read, it is not to be done through eisegesis or with presuppositions. It is not to be read with agendas or biases to make it appealing to the hearer. It is to be done through exegesis, allowing the scripture to come off the page and into your heart and mind which changes you from the inside. It is not to be watered down or taken out of context to make it fit into a particular narrative.

Why is it important to do this? So that we, as a people, a nation and a world will be given the truth in hopes that it will awaken our souls and we will be driven to repentance. God’s Word will always point us to the Messiah, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That is the intent and the goal.

The plan is for restoration. We were originally designed to worship God and live with Him eternally. Sin, through Adam changed that. Jesus, the second Adam, came to restore. He is the only way into heaven and eternity. That is the truth! That is the clear message that is unadulterated with full power and authority and is the message that every Christ follower should be sharing at every opportunity. When you read your Bible today, read it through the eyes of Christ and allow His Words to come off of the pages and into your heart. Read the entire Bible, do not diminish a word. Perhaps your life and the lives around you will be changed as a result.

“So, we are assured in the Word that it is Jesus only and He is enough! It is not Jesus plus a lot of other religions. It is not Jesus plus a lot of other philosophies. He is the Eternal Word, and so we must listen to Him!” – Tozer
