In Times Of Disaster

“…the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you.”

– Deuteronomy 23:5

The Lord our God is omnipotent. He has unlimited and great power, there is nothing impossible for Him and with Him. The Bible declares, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). It also promises that “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). These being true statements, as Christians we can then conclude that every situation we find ourselves in today, He is in control of.

We cannot control circumstances but we can control our response to them. When trust is placed in man or material riches, they will always leave us disappointed and empty. Man will fail you and material riches can be stolen and used up. When those are our gods, panic sets during times of disaster.

Jesus brings peace that surpasses all understanding, but only for those who run to Him and have accepted Him as Lord and Savior. You must have His grace before you can ever have His peace. When Jesus is your God, any circumstance that seems to be a curse He can turn into a blessing. Why? Because “your God loves you.”

“The doctrine of providence teaches Christians that they are never in the grip of blind forces (fortune, chance, luck, fate); all that happens to them is divinely planned, and each event comes as a new summons to trust, obey, and rejoice, knowing that all is for one’s spiritual and eternal good (Rom. 8:28).”
