Dear Church Family and Guests,
The Rowland Unified School District has made a last-minute decision to close its campuses, including any outside operations. At this time, Surrendered Church is no longer able to use Killian Elementary for services until further notice.
As Christ-followers, we know well that God is sovereign and moves through providence. As J.I. Packer wrote, “God is completely in charge of His world. His hand may be hidden, but his rule is absolute.” I do not personally believe we are being singled out or that this is some type of personal attack on Surrendered Church to shut us down. Further, I do not think that this is some type of sign from the Lord that we are not to exist. On the contrary, I believe the Lord is using this scenario to build an even stronger fellowship.
This closure is not my decision and is beyond my control. It should be noted that I do not fault the district in their choice and believe they are using wisdom to the best of their ability to slow the spread of disease. The Lord has a plan, and we are simply along for the ride and must move where He sends us.
When God was speaking to Joshua, He said, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). In that same fashion, the Lord has commanded us and exhorted us to be courageous. He has promised to be with us…wherever we go!
We realize that a building does not make up the church, it is the people that attend in whom the Holy Spirit resides. With technology as it is today, we can Livestream on Facebook and on our YouTube channel in the interim. Due to this fact, I will be teaching from my home and broadcasting services on our Facebook Page, @theogsurrenderedchurch, and posting it on our YouTube channel, Surrendered Church, until further notice. May God bless you and keep you safe as we worship Him together!
Pastor, Surrendered Church
