“Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching.”– Luke 12:17
Jesus said, “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2-3). If we knew our Master, the Lord Jesus Christ, was going to return for us today, how much weight would the difficulties of life hold? Our burdens would likely be of no consequence.
The fire on the altar was to “ever be burning and never go out.” Consistently watching for our Master keeps the lamp burning in our hearts. The kingdom of God is at hand, has been preached, and we are pressing into it. This tenacity then causes us to fix our eyes forward as our Father’s promises penetrate deep into our hearts. Believer, let Jesus’ Words seep into your heart’s very depths today and be found watching. For the servants who carry this disposition are not sidetracked by trials but are called by Jesus blessed!
“Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.”– Proverbs 4:25-27 (NLT)
