The Gift of Christ

“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”

– Genesis 3:15

This scripture predicts the perpetual hostility between Satan and all humanity. Between Satan’s agents and the Messiah. It is the “Protevangelium,” the first gospel announcement. The plan of the cross began right after the fall of man. Grace is given before judgment.

The woman’s Seed that crushed the Devil’s head gives the picture of a deadly wound causing utter defeat to the enemy. This wound was given at Calvary when Jesus decisively declared victory over death and hell (1 Corinthians 15:54). There is only the mention of the woman’s Seed, announcing the virgin birth—the Immanuel Prophecy. “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and you shall call His name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14). This prophecy is fulfilled in Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior.

The first gospel pronounced was declaring the arrival of the Messiah. Jesus of Nazareth was the fulfillment. This time of Christendom, the “Church Age,” is a parenthesis of time before the Lord’s Second Advent. Grace, through the cross of Christ, has been given. In a season where many businesses and homes post signs encouraging us to believe, will you believe in Jesus and accept the gift of grace He has given this year?

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

– Isaiah 9:6
